Councillor Robin Lawrence recycling
Figures unearthed by Liberal Democrat Councillor Robin Lawrence shows Wolverhampton City Council spends £13,552,000 on waste collection and disposal, which is 14.9% of the Council Tax take.
Robin said "If we reduce our waste, we can reduce our Council Tax Bills too a win for our pockets and the environment."
The Liberal Democrats have led the way on the environment pushing for the introduction of recycling and also ensuring the Council is committed to becoming Carbon-Neutral.
Robin added "There are many things Wolverhampton Council, local businesses and local residents can do. I am calling on the Council to improve its recycling programme and include a food waste collection for composting, two other ideas are businesses accepting more returned bags, jars and bottles and residents signing up for the mail-preference service to stop junk mail."
