It has been revealed Wolverhampton's Labour Party left the Council's finances with a £5million blackhole.

New motor cycle barriers installed on Lanesfield path New!

Residents in the Lanesfield area of Springvale Ward complained to their local Lib Dem Councillors about youths on motorcycles riding along the public right of way between Wood Street and Dresden Close. One Resident suggested that there should be barriers that would let pedestrians through be stop motor bikes. Cllr Richard Whitehouse contacted the Highways Department after getting support from the local police and a barrier was installed early in August.

Nick Clegg accuses energy companies of 'blackmail'

Nick Clegg, the Liberal Democrat leader, has accused energy companies of "blackmailing" the government because they are apparently reluctant to fund energy-saving measures for poorer customers. Mr Clegg told BBC Radio 4's Today programme "Without help, this winter could turn out to be a disastrous one for customers unable to pay their bills."

More on Post Office closures

Portobello post office on Willenhall Road has been included in the closure plan. The nearest post office branches remaining will be in Bunkers Hill Bilston, John Street Willenhall and the Old Heath branch on Willenhall Road. The Royal Mail claims that the Portobello Post Office serves an average of just 1000 to 1499 customers a week where as the John Street Post Office serves twice that number.

Post Office closures

In the last week of August the Post Office announced plans to close the Newhampton Road West Post Office. The nearest post office would be at the Avion Centre. The Royal Mail claimed that the Newhampton Road West Post Office served an average of just 750 to 999 customers a week where as the Avion Centre Post Office serves twice that number and most offices three times as many.

Make Britain an exporter of renewable energy by 2050 says Nick Clegg

Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg has unveiled plans to make Britain an exporter of renewable energy by 2050. He has called for a programme to end the UK's increasing dependence on foreign coal, gas and oil. Instead of the government's preferred option of nuclear energy Mr Clegg says it can be achieved through wave, wind, biomasss and solar power.

Lib Dem MP in challenge to Oath of Allegiance

Liberal Democrat MP, Norman Baker, has tabled a motion to Parliament calling for an alternative to the Oath of Allegiance to the Queen. And human rights lawyer Louise Christian is representing the campaign group "Republic" in its planned legal challenge to the oath. After election, MPs must swear an oath of allegiance "to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, her heirs and successors" or take a "solemn affirmation", in which they pledge to do the same, but without the words "I swear by Almighty God".

Tory think tank call an insult to 'North'

Liberal Democrats in Wolverhampton have described a call by a Conservative-leaning think tank for people from towns and cities of the 'North' to pack their bags and move to the South as appalling.
