Liberal Democrats pledge 10,000 more Police nationally and 50 for the West Midlands

Mark Oaten MP, Liberal Democrat Shadow Home Secretary, yesterday pledged to put more police on the streets of Britain and to cut the amount of time officers spend filling in forms. This would equate to 50 extra police for Wolverhampton.

Mr Oaten said "The Police are forced to spend far too much time on paperwork when they should be out on our streets protecting our communities. The Liberal Democrats would put 10,000 more police on the streets and cut the amount of time officers spend filling in forms. We would commit money to revolutionise police technology. We would swap notebooks for laptops to create a police force better equipped for the 21st century."

David Jack, Liberal Democrat Candidate for Wolverhampton North East "I am glad to see Mark Oaten and the Liberal Democrats pledging an extra 10,000 police nationally and 50 for Wolverhampton - this will certainly help reduce crime and the fear of crime."
