At the recent Liberal Democrat Conference, Colin Ross the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesperson for Wolverhampton South West had his hearing tested. RNID were offering free hearing tests for delegates, Colin had his hearing tested and now recommends others do the same.

Colin Ross said "Whilst most people under the age of 60 do not suffer from hearing loss it is become and increasing problem and 55% of those aged over 60 suffer from some form of hearing loss. Even when people become aware of a hearing loss they tend not to get checked due to feeling embarrassed."

Colin's test lasted about twenty minutes and he had to wear headphones and listen for sounds of differing frequencies and volume, he had to click a button when he could hear the sounds. After the test the audiologist discussed the results with Colin.

Colin said "Fortunately my hearing is good, but I have kept hold of my results and will have another check in a couple of years. I would advise anyone who thinks they may suffer from hearing loss to have their hearing checked and fortunately we have free hearing tests available in Wolverhampton.

Free hearing tests can be arranged by Scrivens on Lichfield Street, appointments can be booked by calling 0800 626427.
