Wolverhampton members attend Liberal Democrat conference3.24.15pm GMT Sun 13th Nov 2005
A large number of Wolverhampton Liberal Democrats travelled to Stratford on Saturday 12 November. They did not go to see a Shakespeare play or the tourist sights but to attend a Liberal Democrat conference.
They took an active part in all the debates including one about the proposals for the expansion of Birmingham Airport and another about exemptions from the minimum wage for younger people in employment. Park Candidate Robin Lawrence spoke passionately in the debate on the Minimum Wage talking of his experience as a teacher of sixth form students. Colin Ross and Ian Jenkins both spoke in the debate on the expansion of Birmingham Airport. That Wolverhampton Liberal Democrats can send a large number of delegates to a West Midlands conference and influence the decisions taken is a testimony to the dynamism and growing power they have in the City.
