Robin Lawrence is reselected as Park Ward candidate10.00.00pm UTC (GMT +0000) Wed 19th Jul 2006
Robin Lawrence, who came so close to winning Park Ward from the Labour Party this May, has been re-selected as the Liberal Democrat candidate for Park Ward for the 2007 Local Elections. At a Branch meeting on Wednesday 19 July Robin was unanimously reselected. Robin said,"I am delighted and honoured to have be re-selected and look forward to carry on the campaign and win the seat next May." Campaigning for next year began almost as soon as the result had been announced with a "Thank You" Focus hitting the streets within days of the election result being announced. Robin has already been out knocking on doors in the Ward reconfirming support and converting supporters of both the Labour and Conservatives Parties. Colin Ross has also agreed to continue as Robin's campaign manager. Colin said, "We were agonisingly close last May with just 128 votes separating Robin from the Labour incumbent. Many people simply didn't believe us when we said that the Conservatives couldn't win in Park Ward - many have told us since they wished they had voted for Robin instead! However the result cannot be taken for granted, the way we win across the country is by working all-year round for the people that matter - the local residents.
