Newbridge Gardens road repairs12.01.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Mon 14th Aug 2006
In July Robin Lawrence and the Lib Dem Focus Team were invited to inspect the poor state of the road in Newbridge Gardens by local residents. They were appalled to find potholes and loose tarmac. No significant maintenance or repairs to Newbridge Gardens had been made for at least twenty years. Robin immediately contacted the Head of Transportation Network Management who is responsible for the maintenance of this kind of road and an inspection was carried out. As a result instructions have been issued for pot holes to be attended to as soon as possible. But this is like a sticking plaster on a broken leg. Robin Lawrence has now asked for full resurfacing of both the road and the foot path. This task has been added to the provisional highway maintenance programme. Unfortunately this is only a list of streets that might be afforded in a particular financial year and so is not a guarantee. Robin says he will continue to press for Newbridge Gardens to be included in an early resurfacing programme.
