Most residents are satisfied with the speed and quality of the Police's response

In September Park Ward Ward Liberal Democrats carried out a crime survey across the ward. Springvale Ward Lib Dems carries out the same survey in their area in October. In both wards there was a massive response from residents. Nearly half of those who responded said they have either been the victim of or witnessed a crime in the last year. A third of the victims did not report incidents to the Police. We were pleased to find that most of those who did report the incident were satisfied with the speed and quality of the Police's response.

People had mixed views about whether levels of crime are rising in the area, but NOBODY felt personally less at risk of crime than a year ago. Nearly half said they had been a victim of crime or witnessed a crime in the last year. 6 out of 10 said they felt personally more at risk of crime than one year ago. Nearly three quarters said the Labour Government is not doing a good job in tackling crime and very few supported the Government's £5.4 billion ID card plans.
