Government must act now to halt climate change - Huhne5.00.00pm UTC (GMT +0000) Mon 30th Oct 2006 Commenting on Sir Nicholas Stern's report on climate change published today, Liberal Democrat Shadow Environment Secretary, Chris Huhne MP said "Nick Stern has an impressive global reputation thanks to his time as chief economist at the World Bank. This report will have a very significant impact in moving economic and business thinking towards the view that the sooner we tackle the problem the better." Chris Huhne further said "Until now the so-called Copenhagen Consensus and voices like Bjorn Lomborg have argued that, however true the science, it was not worth spending serious money on averting climate change. Nick Stern has rightly turned that argument on its head by showing that it is downright dangerous to delay taking the necessary action."
