Liberal Democrats pledge to continue fight to protect Freedom of Information4.00.00pm UTC (GMT +0000) Tue 24th Apr 2007 Liberal Democrat MPs have pledged to continue fighting against an attempt to exempt MPs from the Freedom of Information Act. The private member's bill tabled by Conservative MP David Maclean was prevented from passing in the Commons last week, thanks to the efforts of Simon Hughes MP and Norman Baker MP, but it now looks set to return to the Commons for debate to continue this Friday. Norman Baker MP said "This is outrageous. If the government has any decency it will block it. They are colluding with David Maclean to wreck Freedom of Information in this country. We will redouble our efforts to block the Bill if it comes back to the House of Commons this Friday."
