Claire Darke, Cllr Lawrence and Focus team members cross Clark Road but have to face oncoming traffic

Local residents of have told Claire Darke about potential pedestrian dangers at the junction of Clark Road and Compton Road. This junction is used by many school children to cross to and from school despite there being no pedestrian crossing facilities of any kind. Claire Darke said "This road junction is extremely busy at peak times and is used by many children and parents crossing to and from the local schools. With the opening of the new St Jude's Primary School on Clark Road the junction has become even busier." In response to the concerns of local residents Councillor Robin Lawrence has already spoken to Council officers about the Clark Road and Compton Road junction and is awaiting their response. Cllr. Lawrence said "There is a zebra crossing further up Compton Road for the Grammar School and pedestrian controlled traffic lights for St. Peter's and St. Edmund's a similar distance the other way. But I believe that a pedestrian crossing facility as part of the existing traffic lights would improve pedestrian safety and this busy junction."
