Wolverhampton South West Liberal Democrats had stalls at the annual fairs in both Wombourne and Albrighton in the first week of July. June's rainfall had been the heaviest since records began so the meteorological omens were not good. However, at both events the clouds parted and the sun shone. Large crowds of local residents took advantage of a break in the weather to visit the stalls and as fund raising events go they were the most rewarding ever.

At Wombourne the organisers thought they would have a little fun and put the Conservatives right next to the Lib Dems - Labour don't bother even to book a stall. But the Tories failed to turn up so the Lib Dems moved in and took over from the Tories (again).
