Wolverhampton South West's Annual Dinner3.25.47pm UTC (GMT +0000) Sun 3rd Feb 2008
Last night Lorely Burt, Solihull's MP, addressed the members and friends of Wolverhampton South West Liberal Democrats at their Annual Dinner. The Dinner was held at the Dilshad Tandoori in Berry Street. The Liberal Democrats packed out the function room, with extra chairs having to be brought in! In her speech Lorely congratulated the Liberal Democrats on their success in Park ward last year and predicting good results this May she said "The work the Liberal Democrats have been putting in Wolverhampton has begun to reap its results. Last year Robin Lawrence won Park ward, the continued work should see Claire Darke elected this May." Lorely also commended Zahid Shah on his campaign in St. Peters ward by saying "I know Zahid is working hard alongside local residents on issues like the warden scheme in Whitmore Reans and cleaning up Labour's neglect of the area." Lorely gave an uplifting speech of how she won Solihull against all expectations at the General Election in 2005 and gave a number of hints and tips how the success in Solihull could be replicated in Wolverhampton South West. Lorely also gave an insight in to the life of a Member of Parliament and gave us her view on the latest scandals concerning MPs.
