There has been a massive response to Liberal Democrat Zahid Shah's Crime Survey in St. Peter's Ward. Zahid Shah said "I would like to thank everyone that responded. Well over a third of the residents who have responded to our survey so far say they have either been the victim of or witnessed a crime in the last year, although not everyone reported incidents to the police.

Highlights of the survey included:

39% of people said they had been a victim of or witnessed crime in the last year

58% said they felt personally more at risk of crime than one year ago.

But few said they felt unsafe using public transport.

Zahid Shah and St Peter's Liberal Democrat Focus Team have now launched a new campaign to help beat crime. In an attempt to crack down on bogus callers who try and gain entry into homes, Zahid and the Team have delivered a special card which can be displayed on or by the door. The card warns callers that you will not buy or sell at your door, and tells them that you will require identification that can be verified.
