Public meeting a huge success

Senior Lib Dem MP Andrew Stunell addressed a public meeting in St. Andrew's Church Hall, Whitmore Reans, on Thursday evening. The hall is on the boundary of Park and St. Peter's Wards and was packed with local residents from both wards. Mr Stunell was introduced by Cllr Robin Lawrence (Park Ward) and he gave a stirring and witty account of the Liberal Democrats in Parliament and in the local community.

He was followed by Claire Darke (Park Ward candidate) who said her campaign to save a local swimming pool from closure had led her to join the Liberal Democrats who campaign relentlessly on many local issue. Zahid Shah (St Peter's Ward candidate) said that he too had joined the Party because of their involvement in local issues and he committed himself to work tirelessly for all sections of the community.

Before the meeting ended new members had joined and local residents had contributed enough cash to pay for the hall hire and the next Focus.
