Residents in the Lanesfield area of Springvale Ward complained to their local Lib Dem Councillors about youths on motorcycles riding along the public right of way between Wood Street and Dresden Close. One Resident suggested that there should be barriers that would let pedestrians through be stop motor bikes. Cllr Richard Whitehouse contacted the Highways Department after getting support from the local police and a barrier was installed early in August.

However, vandals removed the barrier on the same day even before the concrete had set!

Undeterred the barrier was back ready for the safety of the children attending Lanesfield school when the new term started this September.
