Wolverhampton South West Liberal Democrats choose their team for 2009

Wolverhampton South West Liberal Democrats met earlier this week at their Annual General Meeting and chose their team to lead them through 2009.

Before their elections, they reviewed the year:

In 2008 Wolverhampton South West Liberal Democrats increased their membership - winning a regional award and the national Penhaligon Award.

In 2008 Wolverhampton South West Liberal Democrats won an additional Councillor - Claire Darke in Park Ward, and came very close to winning another - Zahid Shah in St Peters Ward.

In 2008 Wolverhampton South West Liberal Democrats were visited by five Liberal Democrat Parliamentarians - Lorely Burt MP, Andrew Stunell MP, Lembit Opik MP, Vince Cable MP and Liz Lynne MEP.

In the Executive elections Colin Ross was re-elected as Chair and Sarah Sinclair re-elected as Vice Chair. Colin said "I am delighted to have been re-elected as Chair and Sarah as my Vice-Chair, we made some great moves forward this year and look to make even greater progress during 2009."

Dr Edward Pringle was re-elected as Honorary President, the other officers elected were Roger Gray as Treasurer, Councillor Robin Lawrence as Membership Development Officer and Bryan Lewis as Data Officer. Councillor Claire Darke, Dr Paul Darke, Paul Fellows, June Hemsley, Jonathan Webber and Eileen Ward-Birch were also elected to the Executive.

Five representatives to the Federal Conference were elected - they were Dr Paul Darke, Paul Fellows, Colin Ross, Sarah Sinclair and Jonathan Webber.

Three representatives to the Regional Conference were also elected - they were Councillor Claire Darke, June Hemsley, Bryan Lewis and Eileen Ward-Birch. Roger Gray and Jonathan Webber are ex-offico members of the Regional Conference as they also sit on the Regional Executive.
