Park ward Liberal Democrats Jonathan Webber and Councillor Robin Lawrence undertook a survey of local residents last weekend. Almost 50% of local Park ward residents surveyed think Liberal Democrats Vince Cable and Nick Clegg should run the economy, with 86% supporting the Liberal Democrat policy of cutting Income Tax by 4p as the right approach in tackling Labour's economic downturn.

The survey focused on the economy - and most respondents are really worried about food prices, gas and electric prices and pessimistic about the economic future.

When asked who they trusted to run the economy 46% strongly supported Liberal Democrats Vince Cable and Nick Clegg as being the best for the job, followed by 29% for the Conservatives and 25% for the Labour party; 8% of respondents chose the 'other' option - with one particularly imaginative choice of Ant & Dec!

Liberal Democrat campaigner Jonathan Webber said "This survey just shows that local people really do back the Liberal Democrat plans to cut taxes to boost the economy - and it also shows the respect people have for Vince Cable the Liberal Democrat Shadow Chancellor."

Councillor Robin Lawrence added "The low regard in which both Gordon Brown and Alistair Darling are held is highlighted by people putting their trust in Ant and Dec rather than the Government, perhaps they should host a new show 'I'm the Government Get Me Out Of Here!'"
