Wolverhampton Girls High School has again reached the finals in the 2009 Schools' Question Time Challenge, as part of the competition each of the 10 finalists stages their own local Question Time. In April, four of the 10 finalist schools will be chosen to work with David Dimbleby and the Question Time production team to produce a special edition of programme in the summer.
The Girls High invited Robin Lawrence, Liberal Democrat candidate for Wolverhampton South West to be on their panel. He was joined by Paul Uppal (Conservative) Emma Reynolds (Labour), Hannah Couchman (a law student) and Susan Ridney (a Dudley Labour councillor).
Questions ranged from single sex schools, the problems at Stafford Hospital, Gordon Brown's responsibility for the state of the economy and the effect of tuition fees on university applicants.
If there was a clapometer then it would have scored Robin as the winner with the loudest and longest applause for his answers. But if there was a bouquet it would go to the 16 and 17 year olds who organised the event. They were brilliant and should go far.
