Wolverhampton South West Liberal Democrats are calling on the City Council to go green and make Wolverhampton a leading environmental city.

Councillor Claire Darke said "After pressure from the Liberal Democrats Wolverhampton City Council has become far better in the way it thinks about the environment, it was the Liberal Democrats who campaigned successfully for the introduction of plastic and cardboard recycling. However there is still much more that can be done, including improving recycling and rewarding those who recycle."

Liberal Democrats members recently met to discuss waste, recycling and the environment - members agreed Wolverhampton City Council should be working to become a Zero Carbon City. In order to do this it was agreed there should be a review of the recycling across the city, improve recycling for flats and introduce recycling bins in the city centre, introduce a food waste collecting and composting bins at Council owned refuse depots.

Councillor Claire Darke said "We should look to reward people for recycling and playing their part in improving our environment."
