Liberal Democrat Councillors Robin Lawrence and Claire Darke have put a motion to the next meeting of Wolverhampton Council (4 November) calling for Wolverhampton Council to join the 10:10 campaign.
The motion says "We call on the Council to join and embrace the 10:10 campaign. The Council can lead by example and work to achieve a 10% reduction in carbon emissions over the next 18 months. It should also encourage all energy consumers in the borough to work towards a similar 10% reduction."
Both Councillors Robin Lawrence and Claire Darke have signed up as individuals to the 10:10 campaign along with the 2010 Park Ward Candidate Jonathan Webber.
Councillor Robin Lawrence said "'It is important Wolverhampton Council sign up to the 10:10 campaign and start to cut their carbon emissions to improve the environment and quality of life in Wolverhampton. Sadly Wolverhampton's three Labour Members of Parliament have already voted against a similar Liberal Democrats motion calling on Government, Parliament, and all public sector bodies to cut their carbon pollution by 10% by the end of 2010."
