Successful July fundraising stalls

July 14, 2019 10:16 AM

Once again Wolverhampton Lib Dems had stalls at the Wombourne Carnival and the Albrighton & Donington Fayre.

The Wombourne stall had brisk trading all day

The good weather brought large crowds to the field behind Wombourne Parish Council offices which kept the stall busy all day. The Carnival Committee set up a row of stalls at the end of the site all of which are raising funds for local community organisations. On other parts of the site there's the usual ice cream and burger sellers, donkey rides and a variety of local companies wishing to promote their products or give you a chance to win a brand new Mini.

The Albrighton Fayre is held on the High Street which is closed to traffic but residents still go about their usual weekend shopping.

Stalls promoting local groups are set up on the grass verge at the side of the road and there are fewer commercial traders. The climax of the event is a parade along the High Street led by a band from RAF Cosford cadets who are followed by floats and contingents from local schools and other groups including Albrighton's answer to the Hells Angels. The parade was concluded by a splendidly restored 1924 Bull Nose Morris from the back of which the Cosford Commander gave the royal wave.
