Is Bushbury's Aldi a bad neighbour?

ALDI in Mercury Drive, Bushbury, applied for extended opening hours, including for the sale of alcohol, so that the store will be open from 6 in the morning until Midnight! They later adapted their planned opening hours to 7am to 11pm, which is still unsatisfactory.

Local residents are all to well aware of the problems that the store has created, including noise from late night delivery lorries, and appalling parking. Some customers seem unable to park in the rear carpark and just leave their vehicles on the street. The car-park is often hardly full yet customers park on double yellows or double park.

Extended opening hours, which Aldi have planned through the "Variation of Premises Licence", will only make things worse. The Liberal Democrat Focus Team supports efforts by local people to stop this happening.

They will be in touch with Aldi, to ask them to address the car parking problem. Maybe the installation of bollards along the frontage would help.
